Q: What paperwork needs to be done before my son can participate?
A: The forms are available on this FAQ page. Follow the directions provided. Pay to play will be completed online as well. You only need to bring a completed physical form with you to the first practice or you can submit ahead of time to the Athletics Director at SLE or Coach Burch
Q: Where is our Home Pool?
A: Season 2025-26, all practices will be moving to our new pool South Lyon High School for all the practices. Winter practices will be at South Lyon East High School.

Q: Does the team do any fundraisers?
A: Yes. The team does fundraise. The major fundraisers are 1) football squares for various football games and 2) hosting a Master's swim meet on the Sunday between the Conference and State meets (athletes are REQUIRED to work the meet as a requirement to earn their varsity letter). Other fundraisers include concessions at Division or Conference meet, 50/50 raffles at meets, occasional bottle drive.
Q: What are the funds raised used for?
A: The money collected helps pay for various team activities, pool equipment, banquet costs for the athletes, awards and year end coaches gifts.
Q: My son attends South Lyon East High School, is there a bus he can ride to SLHS for swim/dive practice?
A: The schools do not provide busing to practice. The SLEHS boys meet in the Commons after school and the upperclassmen who have cars will drive the boys to SLHS.
Q: What time are practices?
A: Practices after school are Mon-Fri 3:00-5:15pm. Also on Saturday 8-10am.
Q: Is it true that the boys have practice every morning before school?
A: Not every morning. This season morning practice is 5:30-6:45 am 2x a week. Morning practice typically runs on Mondays and Wednesdays or Mondays and Thursdays depending on the Swim Meet schedule. Morning practices are optional, unless your son wants to earn his Varsity Letter. Dive practice is only in the afternoon.
Q: How can my son earn his Varsity Letter?
A: There are a number of requirements that your son will need to fulfill to earn his Varsity Letter(see document)
Q: Can my son participate in another sport during the swim season?
A: Can't participate in another school sport during swim season. May participate in another school activity (i.e. band) with some limitations. May participate in a non-school sport during swim season with certain limitations.
Q: Does my son need to maintain a certain GPA to be a member of the swim team?
A: From Athletics website - Eligibility is established at each semester with a minimum 1.7 semester GPA and no semester E's. If eligibility is not established at the semester, the student will not be allowed to participate for a minimum of 6 weeks. After 6 weeks, the student must re-establish eligibility with a 1.7 term GPA and no E's in the following marking period or they will remain ineligible.
Q: Does my son need a Physical before participating?
A: Yes. The physical form must be completed and turned in at the first practice, along with the other required forms that are posted on this website.
Q: Do parents have responsibilities at home meets?
A: Yes! Parents are necessary for successful meets. Jobs include: timing, running Meet Manager, coordinating meals for the away team, etc.
Q: What do the boys wear to school on meet days?
A: For home meets, the boys wear their spirit wear (team logo t-shirts/sweatshirts). For away meets, the boys dress up (dress pants, shoes, ties).
